Photos Callaghan Valley
The 2010 Olympics have opened a vast tract of Crown Land in the Callaghan Valley for real estate and development post-Games. It is estimated that over 100,000 old growth trees were cut to create the new legacy cross-country ski trails, which have been cleared wide enough to accommodate a new subdivision and the site also houses a permanent sewage treatment plant. As the resort of Whistler reaches build-out, we will likely see the emergence of a new four-season resort 10 minutes south of Whistler, in the Callaghan Valley. Some photos of what has occurred in Whistler Olympic Park.
